In the meantime, we've been reasonably busy. Finally we got round to refreshing asciian's and subtlenasha's icons on Sunday morning (our caches were expiring) over Pancaex at the Manor. jelashke and I spent most of today at the Robocup Junior comp on campus. Power was scarce, so I ducked out to get alice a new battery after registration. The difference has her purring, since her previous battery life was little more than an hour, but the journey took me round about town on foot, and has me tired out now.

I am Misfortune.

alice is biting more dust. Her hard drive is undetectable.

Earlier this year she spent most of a month in service for hard drive failure. Afterwards, there were funny noises (fan, possibly) and white lines in random OpenGL windows.

Once, shame on you. Twice, shame on me.

I am savouring my tea as if I've never tasted tea before.

alice is alive and communicating. Mostly she is very calm and is eager to consume the nuances of software personality I am feeding to her. The most disturbing thing happened to me just now, using kero-chan. The fan and hard drive stopped spinning simultaneously, leaving the eeriest silence I've ever heard:

I am using a computer and it is making no noise at all.

This morning alice suffered hard drive failure. According to the diagnostic/repair kit, repair was attempted on two volumes; one HFS volume was repaired and one volume could not be.

There's only one single-partition drive in her.

Clearly alice's issues run deeper than I ever considered.

The Warthog was purring tonight.

It tore up the ground eagerly on request, and it snorted at the bit as it attacked the lanes. No straight was too long, no sidebreak too sharp.
