Cape Update

Sep 02, 2007 21:41

This is mostly a random update, because my folks and I have invaded my Aunt's house in Cape Cod and I have taken over the computer for the time being. With a household of seven at the moment, it was no easy task. Eight if you count the girl my cousin brought home.

Earlier today my father and uncle were fishing off the dock (With my Aunt and Uncle's house being so close to the water, they just built a deck off of it two years ago, mostly for the fishing and the new boat) hoping to catch something good, which hasn't happened in a while. My cousin Rachel and I were just sitting around upstairs making some breakfast when my dad runs in....holding rather large fish by the mouth. Apparently they couldn't find the bucket, so he just put it in the sink and added some water. Good thing my Aunt wasn't home. Finding a Bass in her sink might have been a shock early in the morning. He went back to fishing, so Rachel and I watched the fish for a while. I couldn't help but feel terrible for it. It's one thing to unpack a steak from it's plastic wrapping to throw on the grill, it's a very different thing to see the animal swimming around mere hours before it's schedualed exacution.

I don't know, it puts the vegetarian argument into better light. Also reminds me why I can't eat anything I've seen alive, I felt sick and dizzy just seeing the meat afterwards. And my father wonders why I leave everytime he offers me something that they've caught.

And drivers in Massachusetts are not nearly as bad as everyone back home makes them out to be. My parents drove the Accord down here so I could drive my cousin around. It actually wasn't all that bad. Almost got us into an accident at one point, because I didn't realize that the lights were green in both directions, but once we made it through that there was no problem at all. Perhaps mom will let me drive in Mass more often after this. Would definately give me the opportunity to visit a lot of friends. And if Mass isn't an issue, then Maine might not be either. I'll have to talk to her about everything on one of her good days. Oh, and driving around with RENT music blaring is quite a lot of fun.

I can't help but be thinking that, while I'm here, in the hours that we're spending watching television on the couch, I could be back home working on my cosplays, or out visiting friends. It isn't as though I don't love spending time with my family, we just have opposing views on a couple of things, and it causes things to be awkward and uncomfortable at times. I wonder if they even know what Andgogynous means? Random thought.

Okay, well I'm off for the time being. I'm going to go watch a documentary on Killer Bees and wait for a phone call. Might run upstairs and grab some Banana cream pie, see who won scrabble.

I come from a scrabble family.
