Chabad rebbe "assimilated" and other French documents
Yes. This is what this very official French document says on the last Chabad rebbe and his wife ("as well as his wife"). Not integrated, ASSIMILATED. WELL ASSIMILATED.
It says he is a science (university) student, and that they have a yearly income of 40 000 francs.
For the record, my father's family, in the same place and times, was considered unassimilated, including the non religious ones, because they spoke Yiddish, hang out with Jews, and lived in the Pletzl. The rebbe lived in a (still) heavily non Jewish area, not in walking distance of a shul for shabbes.
The document lists his various addresses, all in the same "studentish" area.
It says he frequents "some" foreign people. As for his instruction, he is "finishing a mechanics & electricity engineering degree". "His family is supporting his lifestyle and studies". He has "one brother, Berl, accountant". I jumped here. His second, disabled brother was NOT dead at the time! A blatant lie on an official document.
In his school papers, I read that in winter he asked to leave the class early on Friday, at 3.30, as well as his brother in law Mendel Horenstein, and that they were fed up with him skipping class without providing a motive (meaning during the week, without sickness).
I'm forever fascinated.
