Today was a good day, but really hard.
First, Mati. Where to even start. I don’t know if it’s Jerusalem syndrom or what, but despite how muvh I thought she was a tznius fanatic before, now I have seen and heard things I’m not going to forget soon.
Where to start.
She is afraid and goes hysterical when I’m « not tznius ». She yells, cries... she has decided to only wear floor length skirts. We had to drag her out because her skirt was « not tznius » so she didn’t want to go out. A calf length skirt with thick opaque tights. She demanded to cover her hair to go out, too (I only agreed to an elastic to attach it and barrettes so nothing moves).
Brace yourself again. She didn’t believe me, my husband and wasn’t ready to only ask her mora if her skirt was tznius. She only agreed to… ask a RUV. She is three, gosh !
We went to the kotel and my husband there searched for the frummest looking ruv with a long beard and long payes and all and still he couldn’t believe it. He called her a tzadekes and had tears of emotion in his eyes. He told her she was perfectly tzanua of course. She seemed to accept it from him BH.
Another tznius novelty, for the first time today I wore a snood and no make up (husband convinced me to try to see if I would get fewer pervs but we didn’t notice a big difference and I ended up putting on make up in the evening). A snood is practical to show off nice earrings (I changed today for long shiny pink Michal Negrins and BH it didn’t hurt, I didn’t feel a thing) ! even long ones are practically invisible under my sheitel.
Mati still has this meshigas of wanting to be carried all the time and yelling and crying when she needs to walk (she is afraid of the weird people, she says).
My husband had a long talk with her this morning about how hitting and yelling is yetzer hara and now she’s very afraid the yetzer hara will come, and is often hysterical about it, although she has BH stopped hitting us. Husband says a common cheder/chinuch trick is show a random medieval pic of the devil and call it the yetzer hara or read a random description of Gehinom and say that’s where doing XYZ leads, but I forbade it. Poor kid, this trip can’t have been easy on her.
I’ve had the mother of all migraines from last night to this night, nothing is doing. Probably a deathly mix of weather, hormones, reflux, stress and going up and down (Jerusalem is quite high). My brow, eyebrows, eyes, cheeks, teeth, nose… are killing me.
I bought a red string from Kever Rahel for me and Mati at the kotel where I also davened for the people who gave me their names and of course for us.
Mati quote of the day : I don’t want to go to the toilets, I’m afraid to fall in the shit. LOL.
