A shore without a fence...

I live near a lake, really near (I can see it from my window). The problem? Most "socialization" spots are just on the shore, and there is no fence for child security! The ground is just replaced with water, either abruptly or progressively. Like this. I am very paranoid, and won't allow my daughter to walk there because she likes to suddenly run. ( Read more... )

it takes only one 'inhalation' for a person to drown. a child can drown in a puddle if it is deep enough and they fall face first. your daughter is JUST two and two year olds have NO sense whatsoever ( ... )

I would let her walk there only while holding your hand, like across a street. I am also not a paranoid mom at all but water is very dangerous and it takes very little time for a child to drown. I have been in so many situations when I am swimming right next to my child and she goes under and I grab her and it is fine b/c I am right near her but if I was two seconds further away, it would have been a bad ending.

It's like that near Singapore river here........Everytime I look at it I think how badly designed and dangerous it is.

I think I'm paranoid (especially with kids)but if I had a child I wouldn't go there till I felt they were old enough to understand the danger.
