Ruki paced around his room, walking back and forth, glancing at the clock every thirty seconds. Why did time have to move too slowly at him? He rubbed his eyes and yawned, opening his phone yet again to dial the number of the newly added contact to his list. The screen showed 'Calling Uruha' but before it started ringing, he shut his phone close yet again.
He had been awake since 11 in the morning deciding to call or not. Ruki usually didn't get so nervous; to him, this was getting ridiculous. He opened his phone and dialed again to the same number, this time determined to talk. Holding the phone up to his ear, Ruki listened to the rings, growing more anxious every second.

A knock on the door awoke Uruha from his dream. He groaned and mumbled something about not wanting to wake up as his mother walked in, placing a silver parcel on the shelf next to him. "This came for you in the mail, honey" she said, patting Uruha's head and exiting the room.
As Uruha tried to sit up, a sharp throbbing pain attacked his head, making him fall back onto his bed. He tried to massage his head with one of his hands, but his muscles weren't cooperating so well. After a few minutes, he finally felt more awake, though the pain in his head only grew worse.
Succeeding in trying to sit up this time, he grabbed the parcel and tore off the wrap carelessly. Opening the box inside, he almost gasped as he saw what was inside, a sleek, new cellphone. The surface reflected the surprise on his face, the purple and silver colors around the screen shining in the sunlight that streamed through his window.
Uruha held the phone gingerly with his hand, afraid to leave fingerprints on the smooth surface. Not exactly sure of what he was doing, he pressed and held down a red button on the side. An animation played on the screen to indicate that the phone was turning on.
He stared at the screen closely, not sure where the normal number/letter pad of the phone was. The phone suddenly rang, making Uruha drop it onto his bed in surprise. After two rings, Uruha lifted the phone up, looking around as to where the 'answer' button was, until he realized he had to touch the screen where it said 'answer' in flashing green letters.
"Moshi moshi?" he answered, wondering who could have called him just as he turned on the phone. A silent pause followed, until a somewhat familiar voice answered "Oh... hey." Uruha held his breath, his heart beating rapidly. "Ruki?" he asked, unsure. "Yeah" Ruki answered.
They both started to say something at the same time, and both paused. "So, uh" Uruha asked, "is this your way of saying sorry?" Ruki scoffed on the other end of the line. "You think I'm apologizing? No, I just needed some way to get in touch with you."
Uruha rolled his eyes. Ruki continued on "Anyway, meet me at Ginza at 5." Uruha let out a sound, something between a whine and a groan. "Eh? I can't. I have a huge headache, and-" Ruki cut him off, scoffing again. "Should've thought about that before you drank too much. You better be there."
Ruki hung up, and Uruha sat on his bed with a confused look on his face. Had he just been asked out on a date? He took a moment to look at his phone carefully, and realized that Ruki's number was already on the contact list. He chuckled to himself, Ruki was still full of himself, but at least he had apologized in some way.
With some effort, he got off his bed. He would need a shower to wash off all the gunk from his hair, only to put in some more after he got it out. There was nothing he wanted to do more than to go back to sleep, but the butterflies in his stomach told him to get up and get ready. It would take a lot of pills to get rid of this headache.

After being pushed, shoved, and squished in the train, Uruha was glad to get off. He looked at his watch, showing that it was 5:07. His pace quickened as he walked faster, wishing he had a jacket with him. The fabric of his black shirt was thin and the wind passed through it quickly, getting to his skin and making Uruha shiver slightly.
Uruha was amazed that he could spot Ruki so easily. The place was so full of people; it was a wonder that Uruha didn’t get lost every time he came here. Not that he did come here often, he didn’t have money to shop in expensive places like this.
Ruki looked up to see Uruha, still standing at the same spot looking at him. "What took you so long? I've been waiting here for half an hour!" Uruha walked over, still not sure why he agreed to meet here. “I’m sorry. But you know, I’m only fifteen minutes late.”
Grunting, Ruki put his cigarette out and threw it aside. “Come on, I’m starving.” Ruki started heading down the sidewalk, Uruha walking quickly after him to catch up. “Why didn’t you eat before you came here?” Uruha asked.
Ruki sneered as he fixed his hat, which was threatening to blow off in the chilly autumn wind. “So I could eat with you, bakka!” Uruha didn’t exactly appreciate being called a dummy, but he grinned at those words. “Okay then, where are we going?”
“Amano Restaurant” Ruki answered, holding the door for Uruha. “Tora’s dad owns it, it’s probably the best one around here.” Uruha stepped into the restaurant, getting another surging feeling of nervousness. Everyone in there looked so extravagant and elegant; suddenly Uruha wished he was wearing something nicer.
“Welcome, Ruki-sama” said a young waitress, bowing to them. “Your usual table?” Ruki nodded in response. Uruha followed the blond and the waitress to a booth at the back of the restaurant. Handing them both a menu, the waitress bowed again and left.
‘Wow, Tora was right’ Uruha thought as he read the menu. ‘You really could blow 30,000 yen… and just on appetizers too!’ His head was spinning from just reading the prices. Ruki seemed to notice Uruha’s arms growing weaker.
“Don’t worry about the prices, it’s on me” Ruki said, putting his own menu down. “If you’re not sure what to get though, I can order for us.” Uruha nodded but continued to look through the menu. All the fancy names and description just confused him more.
“We’ll have today’s special and a bottle of Château d'Yquem” Ruki said, handing both menus back to the waitress as she took their order. They sat in silence for a few minutes until Uruha spoke. “Um… I just wanted to say thanks again. For the phone, that is.”
Ruki leaned forward, his face now directly across Uruha’s. “I’m glad you liked it. It reminded me of your outfit yesterday, so I felt like getting it for you.” Uruha was about to mention the fact that he wouldn’t have needed a new phone if Ruki hadn’t broken his old one, but Ruki’s gaze was unsettling him.
Though his usual icy white eyes had changed into a deep shade of blue today, it seemed to suit him even more. Uruha gulped apprehensively; only now he was starting to see why every guy and girl at his school had obsessed over Ruki.
The food arrived quicker than Uruha had expected; either that, or he had stared into Ruki’s eyes for too long. Ruki started eating his food straight away, while Uruha poked his gingerly with the fork. “Just eat it, it won’t kill you” Ruki said, and Uruha picked up some of the food with the fork and took a bite.
“Mmm, it’s delicious!” Uruha exclaimed as he ate more of the food. Ruki paused from eating his and watched Uruha, taking in every bite with a smile on his face. “I’ve never seen anyone look so happy while eating food” Ruki commented.
Uruha took a sip out of the white wine, studying the taste before swallowing it. “It’s just my way of showing that I love it.” Uruha grinned at the other and continued to eat. When they finished, Ruki paid the bill and they walked out of the restaurant, crossed the street and entered one of the stores.
Ruki pressed the button for the elevator, though the buttons at the top indicated it was on the top floor. Uruha tugged on Ruki’s hand and pointed to the door across the elevator. “Let’s just use the stairs.” Ruki grumbled a bit but followed Uruha into the staircase.
Uruha knew something was wrong as soon as he stepped in. Instead of seeing steps and handles, he saw a vast room piled full of boxes. “Maybe it’s because I haven’t used the stairs in a while, but this does not look like a staircase to me” Ruki muttered.
Uruha shook his head and turned around, trying to turn the handle but finding none. He looked at the big red sign across the door that said ‘Storage Room.’ “Oh, great” Ruki groaned, seeing the sign as well. “Don’t tell me, you’ve got us stuck in another place?”
“How was I supposed to know?” Uruha said weakly, clear signs of panic etched across his face. “Shouldn’t storage rooms be locked on the outside?” Ruki groaned again and slumped across the wall, sliding down to the floor. “Now we’re never going to get out unless someone comes in.”
Uruha glowered at Ruki, arms folded across his chest. “That attitude’s not going to get us out of here!” He looked around the room, which seemed almost as giant as the store itself. “This can’t be the only door in here. Let’s go look around to see if there are any more.”
Ruki pulled out his phone, dialing his contact list but finding no signal. “You go around and look, I’ll try to see if this thing works.” Uruha narrowed his eyes at Ruki but the blond took no notice of it.
Muttering to himself, Uruha started to walk across the room, starting near the right side. He looked at his watch constantly to find that time was going along faster than he had thought; it was already 8PM. He found a couple of doors, but they were all locked. Knocking on them didn’t help either, all it did was waste his time.
Uruha finally finished walking around the entire room and came back to the door they walked in through, tired and legs aching. In between breaths, he started out “Ruki, all the doors were lo-”
Ruki disappeared from the door, and Uruha looked around, panicking even more now. “Ruki!” he called out. No answer. He walked in between the rows of stacked boxes, his pace hastening. “Ruki!” Still no answer.
Uruha’s heart almost stopped when around a corner of stacked boxes, someone grabbed his hand. “Don’t shout so loudly, it echoes in here” Ruki said, appearing from behind the boxes. Uruha sighed in relief. “Good, you’re still here.”
Smirking, Ruki let go of Uruha’s hand. “Why, you were worried for me?” Uruha looked away as he sank down to the floor. “No, why would I be? I-… I was just wondering where you went.” Ruki sat down on the ground next to him, putting his phone back into his pocket. “No signal here. What about you, did you find a door?”
Uruha shook his head. “Yeah, but they were all locked.” They both sighed at the same time, and Uruha stood up. “Let’s at least get back to that door, in case someone else walks in too.” Ruki stood up and walked after him.
Immediately after they approached the door, a janitor walked in. He paused to look at Uruha and Ruki for a moment. “What are you doing in here?” Ruki grabbed the door and waited for Uruha to follow. “We came in here by accident” Uruha said and walked out after Ruki, shutting the door.
“Hey, wait!” the janitor yelled out. “I don’t have a key out of here!” Too late, they had walked away from the door, glad to be out of the storage room. The janitor was going to be stuck in there for a long time.

Kai was listening intently, absentmindedly stacking trays on top of another as Uruha described the afternoon's date to him. “No way!” Kai laughed as Uruha told him the story of their date. “So what happened after you two finally made it out of the storage room?”
“We decided that store wasn’t a safe place, so we left the building and headed into another one, which turned out to be a pet store.” Kai was listening intently, pretending to be organizing the display of bottles to fool the boss.
“There were too many animals in there to count, but it was just like going to the zoo, except without the bad smell” Uruha said, giggling. “We just walked around a park after that.”
"So, whatever happened to Aoi then?" Kai asked. Uruha froze for a second, not even sure of the answer himself. He was saved when his manager called out to him. "Takashima, I don't pay you to hang out here and chat with your friend! Your shift is almost over and I better see you working." Uruha bowed and apologized. "I'm sorry, I'll go serve the drinks now."
After spending half an hour running between the tables and the counter, he was glad when his shift was finally over. Saying bye to Kai, he exited the club and started walking to the bus stop, trying to avoid the subject of Aoi.
Uruha had managed to get away from the crowded streets of the club to a more quite one when he saw Aoi and Shou standing at the corner of the street. They seemed to be in the middle of a discussion. His curiosity getting the best of him, Uruha stood behind a tree. It was silent for a minute and Uruha could hear the fallen leaves crinkle under his shoes as he tried to camouflage himself in the shadows.
"Aoi, don't be like that... please." Uruha could tell it was Shou speaking. Aoi's voice sounded bitter as he answered. "So, you're just going to leave me here? Like you've done to me my whole life?" Shou sounded as if he was on the verge of tears. "I'm not leaving you. Its just that..." Shou sighed.
"It's better if I'm out of your life anyway. You won't have to worry about me anymore" Shou said. "But I don't want you out of my life! I want to be with you, Shou." Uruha peered over the side of the tree, unable to make out their facial expressions in the poor lighting provided by the street lights.
"Why do you keep pretending that you don't know how I feel about you?" Aoi asked, sounding exasperated. Shou remained silent, and Aoi continued on. "You know that.. I... I love you." Shou started to cry, and Uruha saw as he dabbed at his eyes with his sleeves.
"Don't say that, Aoi. Please don't. You won't be happy with me. Just forget about this and find someone else, any--" A plane flew nearby, masking all other sounds with the roar from its engines. It had perfect timing though; a second later, and Uruha’s gasp would’ve been heard as he saw Aoi pull Shou into a kiss.
Deciding he had seen enough, Uruha cut through the field behind the trees to the bus stop. He didn’t notice much as he got on the bus, except that it felt like someone had dropped a heavy weight onto his chest. He felt numb all over; so that was what a crush felt like. He never liked someone this much before, and only now he realized how bad it could get.
Yawning as he got off the bus, Uruha decided he needed some sleep. Too much had happened this weekend; he had never dealt with so much drama in such a short time.
Little did he know that the drama was just beginning to unfold.
