The officer acted inappropriate in arresting Gates, not because Gates was black, but because he lacked probable cause to arrest him for anything at all. The Fort Worth police raided a gay bar on the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots and nearly murdered a man. It was like Texas decided the best way to celebrate the modern gay rights movement was to go out and beat up some gay people.
