Update!
So I am officially moved in to my new place and let me tell you although the journey has not been fun, the arrival is quite sweet! Although I am back on the 3rd floor (why do I always end up on the 3rd floor?), I have beautifully vaulted ceilings, a gorgeous balcony, a w/d and a nice roommate who is NOT a grad student. The lighting here is amazing including my east facing bedroom window! and I am now going to be biking in to Rice everyday!
In other news, work is going quite well. The whole dept now knows of my decision to leave with a master's and I have a new committee member who is frankly the best and already acts as an advisor to me anyway! My project is coming along quite well. I am getting samples in and I have ordered primers and pretty soon (crossed fingers) I will start getting some sequencing done! I really need to bust my ass if I am going to get through a master project and thesis write up and defense by april! ugh! plus I have to reapply to grad school and retake the GRE! ugh! but its all worth it, cuz I'll be a better scientist in the end! YAY!
I am going on a canoing camping trip this weekend with my girl scouts! Yay! This should be quite fun! We will be near beaumont and we will camp on a river sandbar and eat dinner and have smores! I am def excited!
All in all, life is MUCH better than how its been all last year. I am finally on an up trend and not complaining half as much which is nice cuz I get to be genuinely happy. I feel more confident in myself which is also good. So YAY, Happy Laurie! =)
