[ Video ] Permission to backtag from hell starting tomorrow?

Jul 24, 2011 04:35

[ There was searing heat, pain radiating in every fiber of his body. It was a struggle to think, to speak, but adrenaline gave him the ability to surpass his own limitations.

He wasn't able to talk, to run, or to fight, but he was able to beg.

And then, it's as if his brain tuned out. He was stuck within a dream, and the unrelenting pain was dulled. ( Read more... )

Unfortunately, that's information we're still working on gathering, Ojisan.

[Man, but does this arrival give Conan a bad vibe.]

I see. And what have you managed to gather thus far?

[ Lips thin with a mild sneer, brow cocking. ]

The nature of the city? It's a prison -- the walls are trapped to keep us in, and even people with magic can't get out. Even if we did, without knowing how we got here ... we're all from different realities, different points in time, different worlds. Whatever ability our captors have that allows them to manipulate time and space, it's considerable.

[ Not unheard of, but it stretches the limits of this child's--child's--credibility. Skeptical scientist is skeptical. ]

And just how did you come to such wild conclusions? What purpose is there to this 'prison'?

[There were several things he would like to say at this point, but he holds his tongue. Talk about a blast from the past, and not exactly the most happy of them, either.]

... No one can help you there, but there are a couple here able to heal and tend to wounds.

[Unless of course a certain Nobody wanted to be ended by Keyblade instead of chakram. Yeah, he could do that, too.]

[ ....Eyes narrow critically, staring at the face in the watch with a harsh scrutiny. Clearly Riku, the facial structure was impeccably close, altered only by what was expected when a young man experienced puberty, but he couldn't determine why he looked so aged. Regardless, the offer made him huff with a snide laugh. ]

I'm insulted, Riku. If the state of disrepair visible from just the platform is any indicator, I don't require the aid of such mediocrity. [ Puts on his smug face, but he still looks exhausted otherwise. And eff you and the keyblade you rode in on. :I ]

[He only smirks for a moment, gauging the reaction from the other with a guarded and half-bored gaze. So the keepers were back to work, bringing in others from the brink of death. ...Light, was it annoying when it came to people like this one the watch was now displaying.]

You'd be surprised what you find in the ashes.

[He kept his tone of voice neutral, but Vexen wasn't the only one who 'felt' insulted. Especially after everything this group has gone through together, old and new alike.]

Indeed. Luckily, I won't have to wait to find something worthwhile.

[ Of course, Vexen didn't have to clarify what he was talking about. He was sure Riku was smart enough to know that Vexen was going to be ALL over that sudden growth spurt. ]

We have no information on the nature by which it was done. I can tell you by whom it was done, though.

[ Looks promising, but looks can also be deceiving. His expression remained aloof, but otherwise neutral while trying to hide his exhaustion. ]

Continue, citing sources.

Originally, people were brought here by The Watcher and The Interloper, and those were confirmed by themselves saying as much. They also invited a group of seven beings who were once human but now are not, as their guests to also 'enjoy' their 'collection', and by that I mean us.

Recently, however, that group of seven has taken over from The Watcher and The Interloper, and as yet we don't know what has become of the original masters of the city. You'll have to ask 'Vash' for more information on that, as I haven't had a chance to speak with him and get more than the base details from him. It's been a recent development.

[ So, magicians and their apprentices, perhaps? That's what it sounds like for the most part, but Vexen won't jump to conclusions. ] It sounds as though this were only some form of trial and error experimentation.

Regardless, I won't be needing the assistance of this 'Vash' you mentioned. I'm perfectly capable of using my own eyes to discover the truth for myself.

[Aqua passed by the station, overhearing the man ask for more information. Stepping inside, her boots clinking lightly against the ground, she joins him.]

It's a prison, not entirely unlike the Realm of Darkness. The differences being, we get brought in and let out by the Watcher and Interlopers will alone. And that this place isn't infested with Darkness or Heartless.

The method by which it was done, we don't know. We only know that their powers outmatch anything we have, and that they can tamper with memories. For all we know, we were drawn to the train and they just erased our memories of it.

[ Attention perks at the sight of Aqua, straightening to stand on his own, expression on his face thinning in a critical manner. The light within her heart was more than noticeable, and the style of the armor was similar to Ventus'. ...Oh yeah, you bet he remembered that. His life revolved around details, after all. ]

I see. Aside from the method in which I boarded the train to begin with, I don't have any gaps in my memories. Are there any reports of people having other memories altered?

But precisely how would you know what's within the Realm of Darkness?

[Aqua keeps her stance straight, looking towards him evenly. He's like Roxas, she can sense it. But because Roxas was the first Nobody she had ever met, she's not hostile.]

On occasion. People who leave and come back, sometimes don't have a single memory of the city. And sometimes, they do. It's happened to my friends. And recently, people were different than they used to be, but they remember being that way rather than the way we remember them.

[Aqua frowns.]

Because when I leave Ruby City, that's where I'll be returning to. I'm trapped there. One prison to another.

[Aqua's still.... just a little bitter about Terra leaving the city. Again.]

[ He doesn't see her cowering, but she doesn't challenge his authority as an elder or take a defensive stance. He's curious as to why, but he'll welcome the peaceful notion given his current state. ]

You'll have to explain it more clearly than that, but I do understand that it's possible to leave and return without any recollection of the visit.

[ He lifts a brow, head canting slightly to one side. ]My name is Vexen, by the way. But in such case, I suggest you quickly accept the fact that you will be returning to the Realm of Darkness once you leave. I'm sure you know as well as I the effect harboring ill emotions can have on a citizen of light in such a place. [ That, and the Organization really didn't need someone else hunting them down on a vindictive rampage.

...But he wondered. ] Are you the only one there?

It's another world. No one knows exactly how we are brought here, it is known who brought us here and it's apparently a sick little game.

That much I've ascertained after hearing it repeated a handful of times. Do you have anything new to add that's worth listening to?
