[ There was searing heat, pain radiating in every fiber of his body. It was a struggle to think, to speak, but adrenaline gave him the ability to surpass his own limitations.
He wasn't able to talk, to run, or to fight, but he was able to beg.
And then, it's as if his brain tuned out. He was stuck within a dream, and the unrelenting pain was dulled. Instead of his body screaming for the relief of death, it was as though his whole body was enduring a migraine, and when the train came to a stop, he hobbled off of the train. Vexen tried, though, to walk as proudly off of that vehicle as he could, but he simply hadn't it in him. And that pillar? He was leaning against it with a shoulder, but he was trying to make it look as though he were just standing close to it, perfectly upright.
There was a watch in his cloak pocket, of which he pulled out after seeing a sign. ] ....I require a more thorough explanation as to the nature of this 'Ruby City' I have been brought and the means by which it was done. [ He tried to retain that aristocratic grandeur to his voice, that calm, analytical, and condescending tone, but that, too, thinly veiled a hatred--or at least the closest thing to pure, undiluted hatred a nobody could produce. If he wasn't so physically and mentally exhausted, that veil would be nonexistent, despite his best efforts.
Likewise, if he wasn't so tired, he would be healing himself currently. Something he really needed, though the wounds in his back were mercifully mended until nothing but a scar was left along his spinal column, hidden under his cloak. ]
