It's just that certain things make a commotion, even a small one, and he can hear. So perhaps it's just a little warily that he's peeking around the corner into the kitchen and blinking. Oh. Hmm. Ah...
Wait, are those pancakes?] Jack..?

Oh, Gilbert!

[Please refrain from sticking parts of your body in very hot places, Jack. It shaves years off Gilbert's life. Find your humanity. Wait. Oh right. Cooking. Talking.] What are you making?
[Besides a mess. Sob.]

I'm not quite sure- I thought I had turned it on but it doesn't seem to be heating up. Maybe I didn't put it up high enough?
[And then at the question, he holds up the baking pan proudly.]
Pancakes! ...or at least they were supposed to be. [He looks down in disappointment at the mass that's spread about in the pan.]

But they're easier to make in an actual pan. [Truth in advertising.] I'll show you?

Ah, all right then... [Getting to his feet, he carefully carries the pan back to the counter where hurricane Jack had struck earlier.]

So we'll also need a spatula.
Oh... ah. How do you feel about chocolate for breakfast? [He's got some chocolate chips hiding around here somewhere, and that makes pancakes even better.]
Reply
[He's rummaging through a drawer- but *PERK* chocolate?]
Really? Is that allowed? [Not like he didn't sneak cake for breakfast the other day of course!]
Reply
[Gilbert can't help but crack a faint smile at the question.] In small doses, I can't imagine why not. We'll toss a few handfuls into the batter. They should melt up nice.

[He grins as he steps back over to where Gilbert is, triumphantly holding up the spatula. And trying not to look too eager for chocolate.]

[Gilbert retrieves the little container of chocolate bites from the cabinet, holding them out to Jack. ...really, the blonde does a good job of looking like an eager 6 year old sometimes. Gilbert blinks.] We can stir these in, and I'll show you how to pan cook them.

Oh, all right. How much should I add?
Reply
[He watches Jack carefully. He's on to you, Blondie.]

Got it! [He shakes some into the cup...and helpfully eats the ones that miss.]
