[So far Elena has had no luck in finding Elraine, not even with the help from Conan and a few others. Bad news indeed, what with that horrific feed that came through only a few days ago. Elena was up and out of her seat the minute she saw it, within minutes she was on the streets, looking for Elle. When the feed turns on it shows Elena walking down ( Read more... )

Elraine-neechan contacted me not that long ago. Sounds like she's calmed down enough to make precautions for isolating herself but other than that, I didn't learn much.

Thank you Conan.

I've gotten word from her as well. She said she's not hurt, but I'm still concerned. We'll get her the help she needs as soon as she's ready for it.

Ah.

At least people are taking this calmly. [Or haven't noticed.]

I think they may not know how to react if they saw it. Even if they did, the chances of them of being overly concerned would be minimal.

I suspect by the low reaction to the feed that most people didn't see it.

[Overly concerned? Someone died! Are we really that desensitized ... ? Conan bit his tongue. It was very probable that Elena was thinking the same things.]

What do you recommend then?

[Oh yes, Conan. She's thinking very much on the same lines. She's seen the way people walked around the sick living on the streets and passed by the dead bodies with hardly a glance. People could be so blind and cruel and selfish, as long as it didn't happen to them.]

I think keeping the situation as quiet as possible would be best. I wouldn't want somebody to overreact and stir up a mob out of fear.

You said she's contacted you, and she's contacted me as well, so we both know she's safe. So long as we can keep in contact with her - as much contact as she's willing to have that is - we can make sure she continues to be safe and unharmed. Christine is prepared to take her in when Elle's ready.

[Conan nodded. Surrendering control of the situation to Elena felt a lot like giving up, but -- she did have experience and age on her side. People would listen to her --

And it seemed like she was handling the situation a lot better than he was. The realisation grated -- but it was Elraine they were talking about. Didn't she deserve their best, no matter what the situation?]

Got it. I'll follow your lead -- wait until she's ready to talk.

Thanks, Elena-neechan.

[She's giving a little smile at his text. He was a boy who liked to be in the middle of things, to be an active participant versus a curious spectator. It made her a little sad that there were times - like this one - where he was forced into the latter role.]

Thank you, Conan. Its relieving to know that the city has someone as attentive and eager to help as you are. And somebody as trustworthy.

I'll keep in touch if I hear anything from Elle. Until then, say safe.
