[Jim is still on the train station platform, but it hasn't taken him long at all to figure out how to work his funny little pocketwatch thingy, maybe ten, fifteen minutes tops. He's just good with technology like that.]

Hello, there. I'm Captain James T. Kirk of the USS EnterpriseI see there's quite a few of us here in the city. [Yyyup. He took a ( Read more... )

[ Of course Jim showed up. Of course. Kid never could stay put and out of trouble, no -- but at the same time, he's glad he's here.

Taking a few minutes to compose himself, Bones turns on his communicator while running a hand through his hair. ]

No one from the ship, no.

[ Sigh. ]

But my daughter is here.

[Jim switches to video in response. Handy.]

Well, that's weird. I was thinking if all of the crew's here, then --

Wait, what?

My daughter, Jim. Joanna McCoy.

[ Sigh. ]

Arrived a bit before I did. She's only six, dammit.

[Jesus Christ... Jim rubs his forehead.]

Well... That... completely kills any and all theories I might've had.

[... hooooo boy.]

Yoouuu must be Joanna. It's nice to finally meet you. [He smiles.]

Yup, I'm stuck here, too, just like everyone else. Looks like we're all in this together.

Yep, that's me. [Jo smiles to out of reflex.]

You can call me Jo if you wanna, like daddy does.

A teenager told me we're prisoners here, when I got here.

[... cute.]

Okay then, Jo. You can call me Jim. [smiles]

Yeah... It's sounding like we're all trapped here pretty good.

Hello, Captain. I am General Sephiroth of the ShinRa Army.

Yes, it would seem there are more than a few of us here, from various worlds. Unfortunately, we can only guess at what's going on.

Hello, General. Good to meet your acquaintance.

No ideas about how or why we were brought here?

Magic, I would assume. It's certainly what keeps us here. As to why, well, it can't be for anything good. I doubt we've won anything.

[Jim snorts.] Magic. Yeah, sure.

Won what, like a vacation or something? Thanks but no thanks. I've got things to do.

[Have a Loz staring at the screen for a long minute, even though there's no visual. He's started to default on video for his own responses, so that's what you get!

He grins after a second, and quirks an eyebrow.]

What kind of name is bones?

[You have stupid friends, Captain.]

It's a nickname.

D'you have other friends you call "muscle" and "tendon"?

[He finds this hilarious.]

Uh... Nno.

I call him that because of an inside joke. [Kinda. Sorta. It's the quickest way to summarize it.]

Whatever place and time you're from, it means nothing here. This place seems to exist outside of both. We were all brought here against our will, apparently to serve the whims of unknown beings who have nothing better to do than toy with our lives. [Brief pause] They must be very bored by now.

[... well then.]

Toy with our lives how, if I might ask?

Bringing us here, for a start. Or has the part about being torn from familiar time and space not sunken in for you yet? [He thinks for a second.] They have also sent us monsters to fight. At least, we assume they were sent. So far such attacks have happened only in the forest, that I know of, but I still wouldn't dare consider the city 'safe'. I sleep with one optic online, and advise you to do the same.

Well, that part's obvious.

Monsters, huh?
