Zack was bubbling over with enthusiasm.
That might not seem remarkable to those who know him, but it had been a very long time since Zack had felt this carefree. He had just spent most of a year on the run from Shinra and Genesis clones, his only steady company an unconscious infantryman. Zack's mentor Angeal and his friend Sephiroth both had to be taken down like rabid dogs. Aerith thought Zack had forgotten her. Finally, Zack had just been gunned down and killed on a rocky cliff, a mere few miles from Midgar and his girlfriend. Things hadn't been going so well.
The afterlife was turning out to be a big change for the better. Now, he had Cloud and Sephiroth back, both alive and well. They could surely face any threat this place had to throw at them. It never even occurred to him to warn Cloud that he'd invited the silver-haired General to the party. Why would Cloud mind?
Instead of pacing, Zack was doing rapid-fire squats to pass the time before the first one of them arrived at the train station to meet him.
