Busy Weekend

Friday night I had my Cookie Lee Jewelry Summer Blowout Party. I had 10 women show up, and we had a lot of fun. I had put out every piece of jewelry I had and it ended up covering the dining room table (which seats 10 comfortably), kitchen table (seats 6), and 2 coffee tables. I sold over $800 in jewelry, even with the 25% discount that everyone received. So it turned out to be a good party!

Saturday morning we took DD to the All-Stars Swim Meet at Sterling Park. It was incredibly crowded! There were 24 kids swimming in each event and all the teams were set up in the tennis courts next to the pool. Luckily our team was in the back near the trees so we stayed in the shade for most of the morning. DD was seeded last in Freestyle and IM so we weren't expecting anything but perhaps improved times. Unfortunately, she has been fighting a cold for the last week and wasn't feeling quite up to par. She came in last in both events but we were proud of her for coming and doing her best when she knew she didn't have a chance of actually winning. Once we got home around 2pm, all three of us crashed and took 3 hour naps! So needless to say, our Saturday was shot.

Sunday we went up to PA to visit my mom. She came home from the hospital on Thursday afternoon after convincing the doctors that she'd be good and that Homewood (her retirement center) would look after her. Just mention Homewood in Hanover and you get the royal treatment! LH went to the grocery store for her while DD and I chatted with my mom. She's still very pale from the blood loss and her energy isn't all back yet but other than that she seemed to be doing great. She has a few follow-up doctor appointments this week so hopefully they will be pleased with her progress. On our way home we stopped at the Shamrock Restaurant for dinner. I've been wanting to try this place out ever since my parents moved to PA over 6 years ago. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality and portions of seafood that they served. We tried the MD crab soup, onion rings, and steamed clams for appetizers, I had the soft shell crabs, LH tried the chicken with crab imperial, and DD had the broiled scallops. I'm sorry we waited so long to try it out because everything was really good!

Monday night DD and I met 3 of my college friends and their families for dinner in Chantilly. One of them lives in Texas, and we only get together when she comes to town to visit her parents who live in the area. One other friend just got married last year so we were meeting her husband for the first time. He's from outside of London so he and DD had a lot to talk about since she just got back from there. It was a nice get together, and I wish we all lived closer together.
