disappointing at best

So last night, after midnight came and went, it occurred to me that it was Friday. But not just any Friday, oh no. The Friday that 500 Days of Summer was set to grace movie theater screens everywhere. Okay, not everywhere... a limited release. But Doubt and Milk had limited releases and surely I'd seen other movies in my area that were on limited release, so needless to say I was not worried.

I should have been worried. So I ask the world, What the Hell? Why couldn't it just be out. I've patiently waited for this piece of cinematic excellence to arrive and where is it? New York City. Daamn. So close, yet so far. I'm not paying train fare, PLUS New York theater ticket prices to see this movie. Not even I am that crazy. Anyway, to torture myself further I read countless reviews, watched clips on moviefone.com and yahoo! movies, and even listened to songs off the soundtrack. And I, of course, stumbled on one review that hurt me most of all. Entertainment Weekly calls the movie "a Gen-Y Annie Hall." Noooooooooo!

Excuse me as I go find a bridge to jump off.

Okay, all better, staying zen. It will get here soon, it will get here soon, it will get here soon.
