UGH! Why do they have to make it harder?

Rant:

As most of you know I'm sick, but that's not what's bugging me. A few days ago I applied for some jobs online, and the VERY NEXT DAY I get a phone call, a text message, and an email from a woman claiming to be from a staffing agency and encouraging me to sign up for their site JobNab.com. Well I thought this was too good to be true, and was a bit suspicious. So when I googled her site name SCAM popped up in the suggestions. Turns out they're just trying to get you to put in your information so their can either sell it to other companies or perhaps cause identity theft. So I deleted the email and the text, and took my resume off Yahoo! Jobs figuring that's where they got my phone and email. But then I wake up today (in pain because I'm sick) and I find a different email and text from some other lady saying I should apply for their CAREERWORKSWHATEVER because SHE has a job for me. So I texted back STOP so she'd take me off her line. Went to check my email and found something from HUMAN RESOURCES telling me about pre-screening... Now after being harrassed by these two scammers I was very very suspicious. It's been a while since I applied for a job, but normally they don't tell you BEFORE HAND that they are already doing background checks. If they tell you at all, and they certainly don't ask for YOU to CHECK IT OVER. So I googled (again) the name of the company they claimed to represent, and found again that it was a scam. UGH. I am so SICK of this I don't know what to do! How the hell did they get my phone number and email?!

I found out one of the places I applied to for a job (twice I might add) is a place under suspicion. VACS is suppose to be a vocational staffing site. I didn't think anything of it when I was applying for jobs, because frankly I didn't even think people may try to scam me. But they have my email and phone number (which I took off today along with other information).

You know, it really sucks. Lots of people beside myself are desperately trying to find jobs, and there are a butt load of land mines waiting out there to make your life even more miserable. I expected trying for months for someone to want to hire me, I expected maybe caving and trying to work for McDonalds only to be turned away cause they weren't hiring, I expected going to a few interviews and never hearing back from them, but I didn't expect that people would try to trip me up along the way or harass me on the phone for my private information.

There should totally be a law.
