question for the LJ comp gurus
I have a friend who as a HP laptop (that's all I know about it, other than it's a couple of years old). The other day she tried to boot up on the battery and got *zilch*. This happened pretty suddenly: one day it worked, the next it didn't. She tried powering it from with the AC adapter, but still nothing; the only difference being that there was a "high-pitched whine" while it was plugged in.
Any clue about what part of the beastie died would be greatly appreciated.
