Watched the PBS Masterpiece Mystery adaptation of P. D. James's Death Comes to Pemberley. (For those of you who didn't know about this: It's a murder-mystery "sequel" to Pride and Prejudice.) My reaction is the same as the one I had to the book, which I read when it came out: Nice idea, not very convincingly executed.
But I kept being distracted by seeing actors I associated with other contexts, starting with Matthew Rhys (Kevin in "Brothers and Sisters") as Darcy -- which at least I knew about ahead of time. But then came Matthew Goode as Wickham -- an actor whose name I had not internalized, and therefore I didn't immediately connect him with Alicia's friend-or-maybe-new-love-interest in "The Good Wife". Rebecca Front (a favorite from the "Inspector Lewis" series) as Mrs. Bennet seemed altogether appropriate.
Finally, the cameo appearance of Lady Catherine, which had me saying "I've definitely seen her somewhere before", but I needed the credits to reveal her as none other than Penelope Keith, star of many a British sitcom, whom I haven't seen in quite some time.
