god, i love this. i love the way this AU works -- their history, the way you kind of combine the idea of ~the prank & peter's betrayal -- and. and. i love the stuff about going back home -- remus seeing his friends again -- and the tensions and love there. the way you get a feeling of him as having grown up against it? i don't know if i'm even making sense. but the sense of character & place together is perfect.

and i love sirius! sirius as an angry teenager, and sirius now just -- waiting. building a house. yess!!!

i read this and was too stunned to even for words for how much i loved it. but i really did love it.

i have never been to australia, but you made me feel like i was actually there. and now i want to go. this was like that book 'the thorn birds' in that it really made the landscape and the setting a viable part of the story to the point that it would hardly work in another setting. i an guessing that you really are australia, but i know that for now that's a mystery.

you really worked magic with non-magic au, too. it was amazing how all the characters just felt 'right' in all ways. i liked how you worked in sirius being falsely imprisoned and who was really at fault. i also have to personally thank you for not making snape the bad guy. i have a soft spot for snape. james was really great here, too, and was harry and lily.

it was beautifully written and the ending was particularly lovely. this bit just made my heart sing: he tilts his head the smallest fraction and sirius is there, his lips crushing against remus', hot ( ... )

Oh man, I don't really know much about Australia--aside from cassowaries and... er, bunyips, and this just painted a whole new picture of it for me. It's beautiful and weird and the history is so rich. And I love how you included photos in the story because they give us a more visual idea of the setting.

And aaaah, working with the canon details and weaving them into the narrative is also very neat and you write Sirius so nicely. <3

(Also, the language is very nice? Like, I read the first few paragraphs, then went back and whispered them to myself and I can definitely hear the internal rhythm there. It's almost like a free-form verse. Love it!)

My my my! this is is gorgeous! The setting was not only hauntingly beautiful but I could easily see the Maurauders and Lily's life there and how Remus might need to end up returning for good. The way you wove together mythology, history and the story was exquisitely beautiful and made great use of your prompt and the theme. So many of your descriptions were prose poems that reading it was an absolutely lovely experience. I'm sure I'll be reading this again and again! Well done!
