The past week has been great. I’m finally feeling better- not quite back to normal but a lot better. I think we’ve narrowed down the source of the symptoms to possible side effects from a medicine I was taking and how they exacerbated existing conditions. Solution- dropping all my medicines except for one and keeping my fingers crossed that I’m magically cured.
Andre came in town last weekend, and we devoted most of our time to food, video games, and alcohol. Dan, Max, and a few of our friends have started playing DnD again with Dan DMing. A word of caution: while drunk DnD sounds like a great idea, it has the potential to end poorly. I offered to be the designated driver so that Max could drink for once. To take advantage of this situation, Max went through a half a bottle of Jager and had no idea what he was doing an hour into the game. He also kept doing things like bursting into random fits of laughter and throwing d20s while screaming “HISTORY CHECK!” for no apparent reason.
We’ll be playing again tomorrow, and won’t have to drive (crashing at Dan’s place) so I’m free to drink this time. Also, I’m feeling much more comfortable with the new rules and my character than I was the first time I played. I’m playing a warlord. Basically I cut things to pieces while inspiring the people around me to be awesome.
I have some work drama going on that is more a nuisance than a problem, and will correct itself within the week so I’m not concerned about it. The whole situation is moronic: if someone is going to go behind my back and bad mouth me in front of my boss and coworkers while my best friend is present and not expect it to get back to me, they’re too dumb to be dealt with. Maybe they should go back to high school so drama is natural instead of creating it in the work environment (aka making our 10x10 foot cubicle way too awkward to work in)? On the upside, I’m not imagining that this person hates me like I thought I might be. Pretty much everyone knows they hate me now.
I’m really looking forward to school starting. I’ll have research going, a good work schedule with good coworkers, classes that I want to take, and Maria, Zack, and Liz will be back in town.
On an entirely unrelated note, the Japanese are
completely insane.
