All right, it's time to put your hands together for our first contestant, Alma!

[Alma is cursing her luck as she steps onstage. Of course she's the only participant whose name starts with an A. Of course.]

[After a deep breath, she seems to have calmed some, and she begins!]

[True to the lyrics, there is a small smile on her face as she sings. She doesn't look at anyone in particular -- the "prizes" aren't anyone she knows, after all. And, well, she's just doing this for funsies.]

That's the time you must keep on trying

[Her song finished, she beams at the audience and judges, does a little curtsy and patiently awaits her judgement.]

[There were no words to describe how much Vincent didn't want to be here and only the threat of having to sit through this soaking wet got him here without coercion. He was expecting to just suffer through this and leave as soon as possible, so he's looking positively dour when Alma takes the stage.

...And just maybe by the time she finishes her song, he's looking a little less like he wants to crawl under the table and die. Okay, so that wasn't half bad- she had a decent voice and even if the song was sweet enough to rot your teeth out, it seemed to suit her. Not bad for the opening act.

He gives her an encouraging smile and claps politely.]

[It is surprisingly adequate, actually; she claps politely and considers this will perhaps be slightly less of a disaster than anticipated. Then again, considering some of the others yet to perform…] She is not bad. [She also looks somewhat familiar. She places it after a moment - a resemblance to the doomed Warrior Guild applicant.] Is she some relation to the Beoulve boy, I wonder? If so, she is from our world, or so I have been led to believe.

Rather, much as with the rest of us, I believe it to be a matter of time. [Having spoken with the boy on several occasions, he appeared to be from a distant future. She had not yet decided if she desired to know all that he might tell her of her own personal history, if she but asked. Somehow, she did not think her war against the Empire would have been forgotten, even generations later. Would it make it easier, to know what she would do? Or would it only cause her to rail against invisible constraints, thereby jeopardizing his future? A dilemma, indeed.]
