I saw Xander walking through the lobby. Imagine my surprise at this occurance, being as he was to be at work right now. I was working him too hard if he was trying to cheat and take a day off. I walked over to him with a frown on my face.

"Imagine my surprise at seeing you here..I do believe that there is still work to be done"

I smile a bit

"if you wanted a day to rest..all you had to do was ask"

Uh oh. Busted. "Giles, hi there." I smiled sheepishly. "Well, I just didn't want you to think I was shirking my responsibilities. Though, I guess my leaving work in the middle of the day without telling anyone pretty much looks just like that, huh?"

"Asking for a day off when you are exhausted...that is not shirking...that is smart. You of all people should know that exhaustion on a construction site...they do not blend"

I said as I switched in to worried father figure mode

"You're right, Giles. I know it. That's why I left. That whole not telling anyone thing, well, sorry about that."

I shrugged and glanced around the lobby, then back at him. "So, what have you been up to? Nothing evil going on I need to worry about, is there?"

"Oh, do you mean aside from the mass of media surrounding poor Julie...and the fact she goes on trial for murder in"

looks at the date on his watch...

"In 3 weeks. She she could very well go to prison for defending herself and there is no way for me to help"

I said frustrated and angry at the whole justice system

"Yeah, Willow told me about that. But, Giles, if there's a way to help, I'm sure you'll find it. At least you can just be there, and support her. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help out.Is there anything I can do?" That was probably a stupid question since he wasn't even sure of what to do. But he's Giles. He's answer-man. Even when he doesn't have the answers, doesn't stop anyone from asking.

"Just be supportive..she will need it"

"Well of course! That's me, supportive guy. I can do supportive." I glanced toward the stairs. "Well, I'm gonna head up and take a nap. Unless you need me for anything?" I said, not feeling guilty about not being at work now, but just making sure I covered all my basis.

"No no...Go get some rest. You have been working too much lately you deserve it."

I smile

"Oh by the way...Will the construction be finished on time?"

"Thanks. Rest it is then." I smiled, glad to be getting in some nap time. But I gave Giles a slight look when he asked about the construction being finished on time. Did any construction job ever get finished on time?

"It might be delayed a little, but not for lack of effort. The crew is really working hard. These things always run over, Giles. This afternoon off won't effect that one way or the other, though." I quickly assured him.

"yes yes...I know you have been working hard."

I smiled at him

"It will be done by next weeks end though correct?"

"Well, evil influence notwithstanding, then yeah. It should be." I glanced toward the stairs, then back at Giles. "Anything else before I veg out?"

"No no...go rest.."

I smile at him and turn to walk away
