I'm back in London... this is a funny city for me, but one that I definitely like, even it is just for the party!
Funny to think about it, but most of the first (and most consistent) entries in this journal were not long after my last visit to London: that was a 'wonderful day' (as Ben described it in an email this morning), and one that seems to linger in my mind eternally.
I do wonder, however, if that is a bit of a curse: I so fondly (and occasionally longingly - but that was for the fitness more than anything!) think back to that time and I wonder if that is stopping me finding the next huge experience. This next experience has been playing around in my head for a while and it is very different, and in some respects, much harder than the previous one to attain. The next experience will be with Caryn; it will be a joint experience and definitely a momentous occasion! I felt a glimpse of it when we were in Fraser Island - going up that stupid hill and being bounced around all the while thinking that it was a minor miracle that we were actually going up the hill because we weren't supposed to be in that 4WD - and I realised how much I enjoyed doing these mad cap weekend adventures! The other time was definitely the trip to the NT and especially on that last afternoon hike...
on that hike we actually talked about living in London; trying to get Caryn's citizenship so we could give our kids three passports and a really opportunity to see and explore the world. We spoke about them going to university anywhere they liked because they had both the passports and we would have made good investments and be able to really support them. I remember the moon setting that night, taking photos of it, and then jumping in the car and driving back to Darwin: it was pure magic.
That's my challenge...
to always keep finding the magic
but how to hold that when you work like we do (which isn't all the time, but is somewhat committed!)?
but yeah, I'm in London
and enjoying it.
