Cut the shit and be proud of your accomplishments. You might not have all the bells and whistles but you got the talent and the chance to prove it,and that's what counts. Anybody underestimates you, they are gonna have problems in life later on if they have to compete against you. It's obvious whoever chooses students saw something in you. Believe in yourself and you'll do it all.

As far as design work done for others goes, I'd say that if you did the design, then you can use it for self-promotion, with appropriate credit given to the production company. I have designed dozens of events for production companies and I use some of them in my self-promotion,

See, I'm not frightening. Yay.. And the rest of them.. They're mostly good people, and much less scary than they seem... Most of the time.. LoL. It's quite a chill department and such the majority of the time.. Sorta.. I'm not being the best at reassuring right now, I know.. But, I don't want to give you a false impression. It's good and bad like anything, but often times the people are more good than bad, but the drama is more bad than good. There, that was the right thing to say.

And, as far as your portfolio goes.. Yes, that still sucks. Trees are dumb. But, I'd say you could put all of the other whatnot in your portfolio.. Make a section not entirely for 'design' per se, but more for just.. idk.. stuff. :D
