Final Act

All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players:
They have their exits and their entrances

Dogs are in the cast as well.

At the end of life, when we make our final exit, I think the best we can hope for is that we have been relevant in a positive way; that someone will will miss us and say that life has been better for you been in it. As I was preparing a spot for her remains I reflected on this and decided that dogs feel the same way. I evaluated the impact of her life on mine and mine on hers.

All and all, Missy and I are square. We both upheld our end of the arrangement and I can testify to her contribution to my life and they lives of our family. She was a good dog.

In acknowledgement of one of her favorites roles, her remains lie deep beneath the giant Greetings rose in front of the house, near a spot in the driveway she enjoyed on sunny days.
