Title: Natural Elements - Chinese Style
Author: Vesica
Rating: PG
Word Count: 200 for each chapter
tthdrabbles Challenge: #18 - The Elements
Fic-For-All Pairing: See Each Chapter for Details.
Disclaimer: Just a bit of mucking about in other people’s sandboxes.
Summary: Chao-Ahn knew very early on she wasn’t like other girls even before she traveled half a world away to a place called Sunnydale.
Series Notes: The Chinese associate TONS of stuff with each element: a season, a stage of life, a sense, a taste, an animal, a heavenly creature - just to list a few. I chose two as themes for each elemental drabble.
Title: Wood
Fic-For-All Pairing: Chao-Ahn, Mokona (Magical Knights Rayearth)
Author’s Notes: The element of Wood is associated with the taste sour and the animal dog.
Summary: When I was a child, I spake as a child…
Parents, Aunties, Sisters and Cousins - they all said she was being a baby.
She didn’t care. She didn’t want a little sister. Two older sisters were quite enough.
Chao-Ahn scuffed through the garden, kicking pebbles and watching with glee as her slippers became more and more stained.
She been scolded for nibbling at the plums that fell from the trees a hundred times, but today she didn’t feel like being a good girl.
She took a big bite only to spit it out again, the sourness of the fruit and her jealousy gagging her.
Thwarted at every turn, she plopped down in the dirt and cried.
“Puu?”
She turned to see a small white…thing…looking at her curiously.
Eyes wide, she didn’t make a peep as it crawled into her lap.
It licked her cheek, teasing a giggle out of her, all the anger and hurt no match for something so cute.
For two years, her parents smiled indulgently the stories of the white dog, Mokona, and the little gifts he found for her.
In the third year another baby sister arrived (such misfortune!) and they said she was too old for imaginary friends.
Ever dutiful, she said goodbye to Mokona.
END.
