Northeast Brazil is all about Forró (pronounced 'Fo-HO'). I gather that it's roughly the equivalent of country music in the US. When I got here I initially thought that Forró was somehow tied to São João, but noooo, Forró is for all 365 days of the year, and it is a big deal.
