14. Washington 10/19/06- 3-3, (2-0 SO) Atlanta. Atlanta continued their best start in franchise history by taking control of the game early and extending the lead to 2-0 early in the second period when Kozlov cleaned up in front of the crease. However, Washington scored 3 unanswered goals to finish the second period, going into the locker room with the one goal lead. The third period involved a lot of physical play, a TON of shots (final margin was 43-30 Atlanta), but no goals until Marian Hossa backhanded the puck home above a sprawling Brent Johnson with 32 seconds left in the contest to even the score at 3! In overtime, Kovalchuck created 2 brilliant shots for himself, the first one being stopped by Johnson, and the second ringing hard off of the crossbar... after a scoreless five minutes of quamano-e-quamano (I know that's not really a phrase in any way shape or form), we went to shootout. First up in penalties, Slava Kozlov again perfectly executed one of his three patented moves: Move 3, The crossover tight angle shot. After Lehtonen stopped Semin, Hossa went five-hole on Johnson, and Lehtonen ended the game by stopping the flashy Ovechkin... great ending to another win, and the third straight OT game I had seen with Chloe.
