Friday, Beth (
jupiter_box) came over and I gave her the gifts I had gotten her in Minnesota. Then she patiently sat and looked as I showed her at all the books and trinkets I had brought back with me while I told most of the stories from my adventure before watching two episodes of Alias.
Saturday, I worked on getting
Disney_icons up and working, of course. And spent most of the rest of the day bantering with my mother over what to watch on TV.
Sunday, I spent the morning helping my mom make snicker doodles. Then we went with my mother out to buy the dress for Valarie's wedding in October. It became clear that many of the workers at the stores did not have a clue about what they were doing, but we managed to find the dress.
The dress is okay. I was hoping for something a little more formal and flowy, but this dress is not bad. It is wine colored, with a non-dizzying floral print, sleeveless, and ends just above the ankles. (How scandalous!) The only part that I'm not happy with is the matching jacket. Not only does it have an ugly button-up style, but it also has shoulder pads. (*Shudder*) I'm hoping the jacket will not be a required part of the outfit, but if it is, I'm hoping I will be able to get away with cutting the shoulder pads out. I can't imagine that Valarie, who has always been quite good at fashion, would be a fan of the shoulder pads either.
My mom has been calling me negative for pointing out what I don't like about the dress. I say that she's too critical for taking my complaints too seriously. It doesn't matter if I hated the dress, I would wear it for Valarie's sake. It is not as though I'm delusional enough to think that my preferences are more important than her wedding.
After getting the dress, I made a quick stop in a little store (that shall remain nameless) and bought myself a new, cute purse. Details of it will no doubt bore most, but suffice it to say that it is tan, suede, and laced up on the sides. I'm really quite fond of it.
After a trip to the grocery store, I was exhausted so I was in bed asleep by 5pm.
My mother informed in that it was customary for the maid of honor to throw a bridal shower for the bride. So, guess what. Party at our house on the 27th!
I'm leaving most of the planning up to my mother since I feel inadequate in my party planning skills. I'm trying to convince her to hire a stripper and serve mint juleps, but she doesn't seem to think my grandmother would be comfortable with either option.
My cat is acting funny today. I put his collar back on him since he has been without it for so long. He is rubbing up against everything and begging for attention now because it irritates him so. He even curled himself under some blankets and refused to move or come out. I'm sorry for his lack of comfort, but he has gone around without a collar for too long. He needs one and I think he will just have to adjust to the feel of one again. Still, his behavior is quite humorous. (I got some aww-dorable pictures of him snoozing under the blankets that I will have to post later.)
Anyway, I think I'm off. I'm bound and determine to find a wedding gift for Valarie from the Disney catalog since she adores Eeyore. Anything but a toaster or anything drab like that. :-p
