the day the snow came down..........
what a couple of days...i finished work yesterday about half 1 and headed home, just as it started to snow again. got home and then headed off to my aunts as i promised my cousin i would take her to the park. by the time i got there it was really coming down but my cousin loved it. she's 3 years old, so you know what they are like.
then it started to go wrong, found out that all the buses had been suspended and taxis had stopped running. parents were down in southampton so no chance of getting a lift there either. the main road in and out of town was chao, bumper to bumper all the way. listened to the radio for most of the night and acutally ended up spending the night at the aunt's house as was just too dangerous to even walk home. my brother ended up leaving his car in savacenters carpark and walked home. by half 8 you couldnt even see where the paths finished and the roads started.
really i was lucky i was somewhere where i could stay, listening to the radio (bbc berkshire) some people were stuck in their cars for hours. spoke to a few of my collegues and it took them on adverage 4 hours to get home last night. one woman left wokr at half 2 and got home at 11pm!!! so this morning i had to walk home as still couldnt get any transport home (even though the buses were meant to be running on the main roads) and it took me over 3 hours to walk home!!!! crazy, esp when its usually a 20 min car ride. the paths were so dangerous, how i didnt end up on my arse at all, i dont know....i nearly went a few times. but i made it!! :)
phoned work as my boss wanted me in this afternoon if i could get in, i said i could try and get in but i would have to walk (in 3 hours only 4 buses went past me) but really didnt know how long it would take me to get in. so after alot of convincing he decided to let me stay at home for the rest of the day, as we didnt get any delieveries last night either (now theres a suprise), but could i come in tomorrow morning earlier to help out. so now im going to do an 11 hour shift tomorrow!!! i must be crazy esp 2 days before christmas, but there was no way i could get in today. my road is like an ice-rink, dad couldnt even get the car up the drive when he got home!!
so instead im keeping myself busy with LJ, the internet (lots of Merlin related fics), my supernatural (which im going to have to take back as they dont have the special features on - third lot ive tried) and merlin dvds (seriously cant stop watching these, i need volume 2 like now! everytime i watch ep 1's commentary i zone back to the BFI :)great mentions Bradley) and my books, with my quilt. i do love duvet days!!!
