No just joking :D Hm serious business...well, if you want the real answer: it doesn't really matter. Undergrads are all the same. It's honestly all up to you to make the best of it. Don't let yourself be affected by silly rumours that seem to have become rules. "UT isn't good for undergrads" is a common misconception. IT's the same everywhere. Every university has its pros and cons. It's just a matter of which one suits YOU better.
From the way I see it, UT actually offers a better educational experience. IT's got the best professors in the country, doing top notch research (AND yes they do teach undergrads...1st years) and very experienced in teaching, and I think that comparing my forms of evaluation with ppl at UW 1st year, it's a lot more fair. Like, I don't have any exam worth 50% just by itself. But moo does, because her prof set it to be that way (it's UT policy that you can't make an exam worth more than a certain %, I think).
UT is big. I admit it. But you have your colleges that deals with you. So you hardly ever get to deal with UT (the BIG thing). IT's actually not that bad. and even though the campus seems big, it's very evenly divided between Arts and Sciences. So if you are in the sciences, you rarely venture to the other side of campus, so it's just a few buildings. About 4, that you need to familiarize yourself with. And I have yet to meet one person who couldn't find a lecture hall :D Because, well, they ARE big and easy to locate.
And by leaving Waterloo, you really aren't leaving anything behind. IT's always gonna be where your "home" is. And you just end up expanding your circle of friends to another city. Which is just awesome. I mean, I would've never met the 80 something ppl from UT had I stayed in Waterloo! And some of them are sooo cool and I'm really lucky to know them. And I mean, you will have to leave Waterloo eventually, one day, even if you decide to not go to UT, you know? You can't just stay in Waterloo for forever, your whole life :D And when that day comes, it's gonna be even more terrifying.
Just remember Tayler, nothing in life is easy. There's always going to be hard times that come with the good stuff. I can't say I wasn't lonely the first night I stayed at rez...because well, I didn't know anyone! But that soon changed, because you won't believe the amazing ppl you meet in rez (you don't get that if you go to UW) and just...randomly, everywhere!
Money...you can always go to a college with a lot of scholarship :D I know your marks are good. If you go to NEw college, they give away so much money for scholarships( innis not as much and Trinity is just crazy expensive to live in), and UT has entrance scholarships too. Just make sure you get above 95%. Then you get a lot of money. And there's OSAP...Innis is the cheapest for rez, because there's no meal plan and you cook your own food. And it's the nicest rez(it's where I live! And ppl tell me everyday how nice my rez is ahaha). But you risk not getting any scholarships from the college.
So that's just some inside info on UT. OH and it's soooo freakin close to Eaton center, Queen st., HArbour front, CN tower, City hall, Bloor and Yorkville, Art Gallery of Ontario, ROM, etc. etc. etc. etc.....you just feel special when you live here, like you are the center of everything :D
And one last thing: med school. If you plan on going...yes they mostly look at CGPA, not which school you come from or what program. So UW MIGHT be easier to get a higher average in that sense...but I'm sure that UT med school gives SOME preference to UT students...it's just how life works. They know how hard undergrad at UT can be, and they know their own courses...so basically, they know their students. And trust me, if you do well at UT, you are SMART, because you are seriously competing against the best out of the best. "Swimming with the big fishies in the BIG OCEAN and not the small fishies in the pond", as my dad would say.
Anywya, g2g study bio! Ahaha my whole comment was sooo biased...And tell me how your decision goes!
