Australia!

I have made it to Australia to one piece.

The trip was very long. I left Hartford to Chicago at around 2 (our time) just to sit on the runway for 2 hours before the 2 hour flight. Because this flight was delayed i missed my connection to San Fransisco. There was a flight that left an hour after the one i had missed, and i made it just in time to get on that one. Then I got to San Fransisco at around 1 our time, just to run to the Sydney flight. By the time i got to that flight i was exhausted! I slept for about 10 hours on the plane, which was awesome!

We got to sydney about 30 minutes ahead of schedule. We were welcomed to Australia with a thick australian accent on the intercom. Then i had to get my luggage and make my way to customes. I declared the most random things, like my shoes and some candy. They didn't even check my bags which was really nice. So i just hung out at the airport for a little while waiting for my aunt to pick me up. It is so hot here. It was close to 90 yesterday and could get up to 110 today!! ouch. haha.

So i got to sydney around 7 am. It took a little while to find the car. The parking lot was pretty full. The aussies drive a little crazy. First of all they drive the opposite way, so that is a trip in itself. They also drive really close to one another and pretty agressively. The road seems to just end randomly too.

We got back to the house (which is really nice i might add) and jumped in the pool with my cousins. They are soo cute!! The backyard is shaded by a giant palm tree, it actually looks more like a giant pinapple with palms coming off actually. There are gum trees everywhere too. These are pretty tall and look kind of like birch trees with reddish bark. Its pretty.

After lunch we headed to Palm beach which is about an hour south of sydney i think. The beach was beautiful. First time in the pacific ocean hehe! The sand was reddish here and the surf was fun. I went for a walk along the beach and played in the water with my cousins.

We got back to the house around 7 and my uncle made some chicken, sausage and steak on the grill. It was all good. They have awesome fruits and veggies here. It is so refreshing after a hot day.

Today is new years eve and we are going to head to the boat around 2. We will anchor in Sydney harbor and spend the day there. There are fireworks around 9 for the kids and then again at 12. The girls will take a nap in between and i just may join them. I woke up before 7 this morning! It is going to take a while to get used to the time and everything. We are spending the night on the boat tonight. I can't wait. I have been looking foreward to today for years i think!

I guess that is all for now. Happy New Years everyone!
