Bleh, so I got up today and went to the doctor. I have some sort of infection thing that's going around. I got a shot and some antibiotics and should be good as new in a few days. I've pretty much spent today lying around watching America's Next Top Model marathons and trying to feel better. The last couple of days at work have been torture, so I really want to feel better before I go in Monday.
And some of the nurses at the hospital think I have paradoxial vocal chord dysfunction, which explains why I lose my voice all weird when I get sick. They gave me the number for a specialist, but I don't think I'll really do anything about it. I rarely lose my voice, so I can't really justifiy spending money on a specialist right now....
Though, I suppose it's been a bit of a wake up call too. I'm not in college anymore, and no one is going to feel sorry for me or take pity on me if I'm sick. And I'm not making some grand show of dedication by coming into the office while sick. I'm just doing my job. Adults go in and do what they have to do, regardless of whether or not they feel like crap. And then they go to the doctor and get medicine so they can get back to work. Sheesh, being an adult is tiring. Though, I suppose that's why we have the weekends.
My departure for Korea is looming ever closer. While this is exciting, I'm starting to feel a little overwhelmed with everything that has to get done. All the doctors' appointments I need to make, the luggage I have to buy, as well as all the little toiletry stuff and yea. Making sure I have enough money. And then I get sick and have to spend a few days taking it easy when I feel like there is so much I have to get done. It's just crazy. Oi...But I shouldn't freak myself out about it now. I have plenty of time to get ready, and right now, I just need to concentrate on getting better. Though, the good news is, I get a paid day off since I worked Labor Day and I think I'm going to use it on Wednesday. Yay! I like days off, especially when they are paid days off....
