The Battle Continues
After the death of Mikney and the loss of Elimyr, the battle changes.
No longer is it a clear situation of the mermaids' dominance over everyone else. No; now it seems equal, wracked with chaos. Any tactics that were used at the beginning are now abandoned. It's simply hand-to-hand fighting, everywhere the eye can see.
It's been hours now, since the battle has started. Those who are still fighting are starting to flag from exhaustion. But the mermaids don't slow -- they don't stop.
It seems the tide of the battle may turn back in their favor.
But then:
The call of a horn.
A beautiful, and strangely elaborate, fanfare, coming from the East.
And the sound of hoofbeats.
A rain of arrows falls on the battlefield; nearly every arrow hits its mark, and despite the mixing of the two armies, not a single one strikes a person fighting against Elimyr. Beautiful archery.
"Yaaaaahhhhhh!" calls Tobin Paap, as he rides down into battle.
