She'd said not to bring anything. In Cris' general experience, that meant a woman wanted him to bring something anyway, but either wasn't sure what or didn't want to tell him for some Mysterious Womanly Reason. But Cassandra had always seemed more earnest than that, so he hadn't brought anything aside from himself. Wearing one of his nicer suits, yes, but it was just him.
He rapped on her door, as sprightly as he could manage. He hoped it was a reasonable hour from her perspective.
