But he was nervous. The last time he let Dartanian out of his pokéball it went sort of like how the storybooks he had back home started out: a psycho dragon rampage. And to be honest, he didn't really remember the last time he even let Dartanian out of the ball that wasn't just to feed him. Insane dragon or not, Sora wasn't about to let the guy starve.
So Sora left Violet City, walking toward Merlin once he spotted him while rubbing at his arms with his hands. Seems he should have dressed warmer as well, but Sora got the distinct feeling that it wouldn't matter if they were to be dealing with a giant fire lizard.

Without waiting for an answer, Merlin tugged Sora away from his original place in the grass, putting some distance between them and his pokemon. Even if he was sure Gedref and Archimedes would protect the eggs if something did happen, Merlin wasn't going to risk it. He briefly wondered how Sora's Charizard had fared since he last saw him.
"Have you tried to train your Charizard since that first time?"

Sora wasn't going to lie to himself; it felt kind of strange to know Merlin before he grows that impressive beard of his-- deny it all you want, Merlin, that beard is fate. Fate.
He stumbled a little at the tugging, twisting to fish Dartanian's pokéball out of his backpack with a grimace. To be honest, he hadn't tried training him at all since he first showed up a few weeks ago. He had no idea how to even go about doing it, so he just... put it off. Tried to focus on other things.
"Well..." Sora rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. "No, I haven't. I like Johto not on fire."

"I also like me not on fire," Merlin added to Sora's optimistic comment as he remembered how well the Charizard had taken to the other trainer before. "We'll hopefully prevent either of those from happening when you let Dartanian out in the future. I mean, it would be cruel to leave him in the pokeball at all times."
