The One Where Everything Went Wrong

When: Evening of October 29th into early morning October 30th, beginning about a half hour after THIS post.
Summary: Souji and Yosuke have a fight! All over the house! In front of everyone! And then things happen and Yosuke wanders

Takes place after his talk with Yosuke

[Trudging back into the Breeding Centre without Yosuke in tow wasn't exactly part of the plan, but with the way everything had gone today, it isn't too much of a surprise.

He shuts the door behind him quietly, in case anyone's resting, and just...tilts his head back, leaning against the door for a moment with his eyes closed. What follows is a long, tired sigh.]

[Someone definitely isn't resting, though. Upon coming back to the living room, Yumi had found the glass she had accidentally shattered and cleaned up. While she did that, though, she realized she didn't know who was here and who wasn't.

That's why there's tea on the living room table, and Merlin will hear an almost too-loud clink (thanks to nervous hands) as Yumi puts down the glass and moves over to the entryway.]

Oh, Merlin...[She doesn't sound disappointed. She's glad to see him, honestly, Yosuke or not.] Are you alright?

[tiercelet]

Yumi. [He looks up at the sound of her voice, attempting a smile, but it just looks strained. He drops it quickly and just shrugs.]

I'm all right. But it's not me I'm worried about right now. [He suspects everyone in the Breeding Centre's going to be worried about Souji and Yosuke for a while, if things get drawn out.]

Just make sure you take care of yourself, too, alright? If you don't, after all of this, I probably won't forgive you. [It's said like she half-decided it was a joke, but it's clear that things are bothering her too much to make one of her usual snarky, harsh comments.] I'm guessing it didn't go too well.

[tiercelet]

[He chuckles.] You've been spending too much time with Rise, Yumi. You're starting to sound like her.

[Then, a sigh escapes him as he shakes his head.] He didn't want to come back tonight. I think...he needs to be alone for a while.

[sunshine_fruit]

Really? I'll take that as a compliment, then. [She smiles just slightly. She didn't really know she sounded like Rise.]

I kind of had a feeling...I guess I understand, though. Everyone needs some time for themselves.

[tiercelet]

It's supposed to be a compliment. Rise's one of the strongest people I know. [He pats her shoulder as he walks in.] But I think you're like that, too, even if we don't know each other that well yet.

[He notices the tea on the table then, nodding at it.] Just made that?

[sunshine_fruit]

She really is, isn't she? [Much stronger than herself, she thinks as she follows Merlin in.] That's nice of you to say.

[She nods back at Merlin and resumes her position in the chair from earlier, but not before pouring him a cup for himself.] It's cold out, and I didn't see anyone grabbing a jacket. I've been remaking it every so often so it's fresh.

[While he likes thinking the best of people when he can, Merlin's still surprised by the little acts of kindness the people in Johto show. It's something that always leaves him feeling warm and content in a way that the ongoings in Camelot never did.]

I'm sure everyone appreciates it. Thanks, Yumi. [He sips on the warm tea, letting it soothe the chills out.] How's...Souji? [He's almost afraid to ask.]

[Something in him lightens just slightly at her concern. Though his emotions are all but spent after what had happened earlier, and the talk he'd had with Yosuke just now, he manages to form a smile for her. With everyone's attention divided between Souji and Yosuke at the moment, it's nice knowing that there's still someone with concern to spare for him. Only Gaius had ever done something similar for him back in Camelot, but even then...he'd just check if everything had gone well, if Arthur was safe...that's just the way it was there. Here...things are different.

Tired as he is, Merlin doesn't bother censoring his actions. He covers her hands with his his, pulling the blanket more tightly around himself. His words are spoken with a touch of gratefulness that she's bound to hear.] I will after I've checked up on Souji. You didn't have to wait around for me to come back, you know.

[tiercelet]

[His hands tighten on hers, just enough to keep her in place, when he notices the way she's starting to pull away.]

You're not a nuisance. [Though his voice is quiet in case others are sleeping, it's easy to hear the vehemence behind those words.] I only meant...Everyone's tired. You should have rested instead of waiting for me.

[tiercelet]

[The smile he gives her then is warm, despite his exhaustion.]

I guess you have a point. I'm here now anyway. [He holds her hands in his a moment longer, then gently lets go.] Sorry for making you wait.
