Summary: oh boy, Xanxus' birthday is today and Layton treats everyone to dinner when it comes to celebrations, so that's what he's going to do. Well... if he can get Xanxus out of bed first.

[INCORRECT. -9001 picarats Xanxus is curled up under his covers, out like a light. And he's only wearing boxers under there. However, the knocking does wake up Bester the Arcanine and Lampo the Luxio; Bester is laying on the floor and Lampo is curled up against Xanxus's back. They both glance at their trainer and notice that he's not budging, then they exchange looks with each other for a moment, as if they're having a silent argument over who's going to answer the door.

Finally, Bester gets up while Lampo starts to go back to sleep. The giant fluffy canine walks over to the door and turns the doorknob with his paw, pushing the door open with his muzzle. Not all the way, though; just enough for Bester to slip through, so Layton won't be able to see into the room.

Wait, what's this, there is a stranger at the door. Bester doesn't trust strangers, so he's going to growl at Layton. Give him a peace offering or gtfo.]

[ Oh, uh, hello there. Huh, Layton hasn't known that Xanxus owns an Arcanine. Guess they share at least one same Pokemon together. Well, he doesn't have any peace offerings but he'll try to be nice. ]

Is Mister Xanxus inside?

[Unfortunately, the only answer Layton's getting from Bester is more growling. But thankfully, Lampo decides to get his lazy ass up and literally leaps right onto Bester's back like this is a completely normal thing. He doesn't even flinch or jump or anything about having a surprise Luxio on his back.

Lampo lays on top of Bester and looks up at Layton for a moment, and then he and Bester have a brief conversation in their mysterious Pokémon language. Then Bester finally opens the door all the way and steps aside while Lampo jumps down from the Arcanine's back and returns to his spot next to the lump that is Xanxus on the bed.]

[ He gives a small smile towards the Arcanine and walks into the room. He stays by the door for a few seconds though and suddenly, his little Teddiursa scurries into the room as well. Ah, it has gotten bored of curiously touching everything in the living room, so it will just stick close to its trainer now ( ... )
