So, I applied to McDonald's online a few months ago (was desperate to find work), can't remember the exact date. Last week they called me and asked me for an interview, which was on tuesday afternoon. Today the called me and told that I didn't get the job. A few months ago I was at a job interview for Subway and they didn't hire me either. It's quite impossible to get work now I guess, even if you're a restaurant branch student you can't get a job at a fastfood restaurant.
On wednesday when I was at school the boss of my summerjob called me and told that she needs someone to work at the shop on thursday as she will be away at some happening and some other people couldn't come either. So I went there after school to get some instructions and the keys to the shop from her.
I also managed to visit a few clothing shops with Barrosa (I'm she's a shopaholic!) while I was in the center. I bought a pair of earrings from Gina Tricot, then a pair of burgundy coloured boots (well, the shoebox calls the colour "wine") and a shirt that's a bit too large from Top 10. The first shirt I picked out of the discount rack had a small mistake in it, so I picked another similar shirt and realized at home that it's Large.
I don't have school on thursdays, so I was working in the shop all day (from 10AM to 6PM). I quite enjoyed it eventhough I was bored when there were no customers for a while. Well, at least I had time to tidy the shop a bit, chat with the ladies working in the shops next door, drink some tea and check all the food products' best before dates in the shop. Selling old products to customers would be a very bad thing.
I also had to speak Swedish a few times and omg I have almost forgotten that language. Maybe I should go to Stockholm or Stockmann... in both places they speak a lot of Swedish. Problems of going to those places include that feeling of being poor caused by Stockmann and the fact that if you go to Stockholm by ferry, some drunken idiots will sing Swedish drinking songs near your cabin all night (has happened to me).
The funniest customer was a man who first got a bit angry at me because he thought that I gave him too little amount of change back. Then when he realized that he was wrong, he was totally embarrassed and offered me a chunk of chocolate. Then there were some talkative customers, but nothing very special.
Today was quite an ok day at school. As our teacher is on a vacation in Florida for 2 weeks, we have a substitute teacher now. He is called Jouko and he usually teaches the baker students. Seems to be much nicer than Kaija. He wasn't shouting at us all the time and he let us leave a bit before 1PM when we had done all our work. Kaija always keeps us there until the last minute (1:15PM is the official lesson ending time).
An unfortunate thing happened today in the morning when Teea borrowed my sharp cook's knife. She accidentally cut a deep wound in her left index finger. She had to go to the school nurse to get it bandaged. She left home earlier, because she was feeling faint and couldn't do much with that finger/hand.
After school I went to the post office to send something nice to my lovely boyfriend. I'm so missing him. Next week Some day you will get those wedding invitations. ;)
