hmmm, i've always had bother with masks, i followed all the steps, but the visable parts in your icon are the ones covered by the mask(brush) in mine, am i doing something wrong which is hideously obvious?

i think i've got it. do u need to invert the mask layer? cos thats whats working for me, but I still dont think Ive got it right. i use PS7

Huh strange. Everything's inverted for you, then.
For me, you don't have to invert it cuz black's invisible...but sounds like for you that white is invisible.
