Cut to:
EXT. DAY. STREET.
Camera stays on DANIEL's dazed face.
HANNELYWhat do you want on your dog, son?
DANIELHuh?
He shakes his daze. He stands near a hot dog stand with HANNELY, a flabbergasted MCCOUGHERTY, his MOTHER, FATHER, and ANGELICA.
DANIELOh. Um. I don't eat meat.
HANNELYMake on of those tofu. With....
DANIELOh. Ketchup. Mustard.
The stand employee fixes the dogs as Hannely hands him cash. The dogs are distributes, warily to the other three adults, and Hannely begins walking.
HANNELYThere now. Isn't this better than some stuffy bourgeois cafe?
ANGELICAYes, sir!
Hannely smiles and rubs her head.
HANNELYBesides, I want to show you something, Mr. Henderson.
They come to an empty store front / office building.
HANNELYThis is where it all started. My business, I mean. They say everything else started somewhere in Africa. But everything I know, started here.
Cut to:
INT. DAY. EMPTY BUILDING.
It's one large room. A couple tables. A desk. Not much else. Hannely leads the group inside.
HANNELYI'm showing you this, Henderson, to remind you that everything starts small before it explodes.
Angelica runs to the desk and begins opening drawers. Mother moves ot stop her. Daniel walks slowly, surveying the room.
HANNELYI like your family, Mr. Henderson. I don't for one minute buy your loving father act. But I like your kids.
-beat-
I've reviewed your proposal further. I'm sure you're well aware that my retirement is set for two months time. I know you see that as the perfect oppertunity to push forward your plan your way.
-Father appears about to protest.-
In the meantime, however, I have decided to grant your proposal.
-father is visibly relieved-
This way, I'm still around for the details. Just do me a favor, Mr. Henderson. Don't forget the small stuff. It's just as important.
-shot of Daniel looking out window.-
Now, I believe you and Mr. McCougherty have some business to discuss.
Hannely walks off to pick up Angelica, who giggles wildly.
