Home is Where the Heart Is

Characters: Paul "Paulie" Knight, America (Alfred)
Setting: Evening, Old Gray Tavern
Summary: Paul gets together with his home country to tell him the extent of the Dromos damage back in America. Many drinks are likely to be had.
Style: Prose
Notes: Closed

Paulie sat at the bar, finishing off the first of his drinks as he looked around for the man who claimed he was literally America.

The idea didn't seem as farfetched to him as it might seem to others - he had grown up in a world enslaved by a certain privileged group's magic. If the spells weren't the flashy and explosive sort that the newcomers might expect, the Dromos were not one's to be trifled with - for they possessed the ability to suppress with fear and uncertainty the majority of the human race. They had been the unquestionable and undisputed rulers of Earth for centuries - the minor blips of attempted uprising were nothing but tiny sparks in damp and mold-eaten firewood.

Paul Knight winced against the after taste of the strong liquor and sighed, staring at the remnants of the brown liquid in the shot glass. This was not a conversation he was going to relish - but somehow, the identity of who he was going to be speaking to bolstered his desire to speak. The fact that he had grown up in a world fraught with impossibilities and uncertainties only made him more likely to believe the stranger's claim. Why would the newcomer bother to lie about something so incredible?
