DKM in Brussels on the 25th...

Well the bags are packed so to speak.

Since arriving in Europe six months back I have visted exactly Paris and nothing else. A combination of moving finance blues and stored vacation days policy have left me without the means to really do much travelling. This is about to change, at least a little bit.

It was always my intention to wait, to save up the coin and the vacation time to make the most of it. For Canadians and Americans the idea of having a half dozen contries within a couple hours trainride awaay is a little hard to internalize properly. Sure we can look at a map, find Paris, and draw a big circle 600 km around and count the countries, but that isn't the same thing. I mean what is within 600 k of Montreal? Quebec city, Ottawa and Toronto. Vermont? Nearly Boston? You get the idea. Sure these are just the high points, but now compare it to a list around Paris.

Marseille and nearly all of France, Amsterdam and the Netherlands, Brussels and all of Belgium, various parts of southern Germany, London England and the southern coast of the UK, Italy and Spain (if not inside 600 k, then awful close). You get the idea.

In any case my plan was to wait, to save, to get myself a motorcycle and start taking weekends out.

But now I am heading to Brussels next week. Leaving from Paris by train at about 13:30, arrival in Belgium about 15:00. Dropkick Murphys that night after a couple of opening acts and then a day and a half before I hop back on the train and head back Saturday afternoon. Maybe I should have stayed and come back Sunday, but I didn't want to get greedy.

Woohoo!

I don't suppose anybody knows a good resource for live music in Europe? English or French, just so long as it covers more than the generic big names. Celtic, Folk, Punk, Rock, Metal?

Live well folks.
