Fate and stuff? Maybe just beer afterall...

So when I packed up and picked up to move to France I handed off my computer to a friend that said she needed an upgrade. I kept my hard disks because there was a lot of stuff on them. Hell, one of them I had had for about 8 years now. Lot of data on it, right?

About a month back I finally got myself an internet connection and a laptop at home. Somewhere in the interveining months external cases to connect an IDE HD to your computer with a USB cable have become mainstream so I figured I'd pick one up (they are real cheap to begin with) and access some of my old data.

It didn't go as smoothly as I would have liked, but I can now access the primary (master) HD through USB. No luck on the secondary data HD (the big slave), but it is a start. In addition to the OS, a number of applications and a lot of internet explorer temp files I found all my old internet bookmarks. Yay webcomics! How I have missed thee. So a few hours disappeared as I read 5 months of backlog on my favoure comics. Rejoice.

As well I came across my links to the bands I used to follow. Mostly for releases and tourdates. I'm not much of a fanboy at heart, but I love music and I love concerts. Another hour goes by as I check up on my bands to find out who has done what... So then... Everybody has a new album out. Tons of folks are coming to Montreal. Just after I leave. Yay me...

But there is one shining light...

The Mahones. Check it out. Did you happen to notice that they are coming to France? That they are playing in Paris? That they are playing in Paris on ST-PATRICKS DAY!!! Finny and the boys rocking out just a metro ride away. And a free concert to boot I have been told. Originally I was a little worried because the announced site for the show is Diesnyworld, but I asked around and apparently there are all kinds of free shows that happen in the little Disney Village where the hotels and restaurants are. It sounds strange to me, but I am not gonna complain.

The way I figure it I am going to owe the Gods a big favour at some point in the nearish future for this one... But I'll worry about it when they come to collect.

In other news I am in the process of booking tickets and vacation time to go see the Dropkick Murphys in Brussels on the 25th. Would have loved to see the show in Amsterdam as well, but it was sold out before I found out about the show. It certainly seems like they are gaining a following in Europe, which bodes well for me seeing future shows. And of course once I am motorcycle enabled once more I will be going to a lot more concerts. Though now that I think about it the return train ticket to Brussels from Paris is going to cost me something like 35€ which is nothing, and is going to take like an hour and a half, which is also nothing. Something to be said for the high speed trains they have tying the continents big cities together...

More later.

Be good.
