Exams are finally over! Cue the next three weeks of all fun and no work!
My last exam was on Wednesday afternoon, after which we all drank a lot of champagne (proper posh stuff too!) then went for pizza and got these enormous 2 litre bottles of wine! A good time was had by all.
Last night was the 'silent disco' which I can now confirm is complete genius. It's silent because everyone has headphones and there are two DJs so you can switch between the two. It's absolutely hilarious when you take off the headphones and everyone is singing along to two different songs! Brilliant. Staying in tonight and watching 'Hairspray' and going out again tomorrow night.
I bought the DVD of a film called 'Across The Universe' because it's based around Beatles songs and how could I resist that premise? I'd heard negative things about it but a guy in a lecture told me it was worth seeing if you like the Beatles. Well, I watched it yesterday afternoon sort of expecting to be disappointed. At the beginning I thought I would be. It's actually a musical where the actors sing the songs, sort of in the style of Mamma Mia as the story was invented around the songs. I wasn't impressed with their voices at first and the style was a bit jarring, but when it got to 'I've Just Seen a Face' and it was done really well and seemed natural I really started to enjoy it. I won't spoil it here but in the end I think it's a fun film with some really powerful moments. A lot of it doesn't really work but I can forgive that because of the numbers that do, and the actors really carry it when the director goes off on one and gets too self-indulgent. As a Beatles fan I loved all of the references in characters' names and lines (e.g. 'She came in through the bathroom window' !).
It's the final of I'd Do Anything tomorrow night! It will be fun but maybe stressful to watch; I think I care a bit too much about who wins this thing! Oh and not forgetting Doctor Who :)
