Yesterday was the World Day on the Mall celebration. I look forward to it every year, firstly because I like watching all the different demonstrations and secondly because I love the opportunity to have affordable Indian food for lunch.
Yesterday I made a pretty scarlet and silver card, got a free braided bookmark, and got a little globe keychain. All of which were a nice bonus to the food and entertainment.
I got to see a demonstration of Brazilian Capeoira, which was very interesting and looked completely exhausting. A couple danced the Cumbia, which was very elegant and beautiful to watch. An elementary school choir performed original songs that they had written that year as part of a school-wide project to get them to write. We got to see some West African Tribal Dance and participate in a call and response song, and I got to partake in a belly dancing lesson. It was very simple and I, undoubtedly looked ridiculous, but I did have a lot of fun and learned one very basic move.
And I still think I want to try learning Tai Chi. I could just be asking for trouble....
