What I've done on my summer 'vacation'

Well, so far I've spent 8 days paddling a canoe or kayak through the wilderness; however many other days swatting mosquitoes, flies, gnats, and picking ticks in the woods all over the eastern half of the state (north and south); gone into work on my days 'off' to catch up on everything I'm missing while I'm in the field.

Daisy's doing well - she's 6 months old now, currently overnighting at the vet after getting spayed. Hopefully healing will go quickly so we can start putting her through some obedience courses. Most of the time she's pretty darn good - sit, lay down, wait (stay), leap, speak... still working on give, quiet, and fetching outside (inside she's really good about it - outside, generally not so much - especially if it involves water). She's discovered she can swim, which is good too. Still a good pup, still cute, still everybody's favorite in the whole wide world. (Well, ok... maybe just Marble, Big Bay and Duluth.)

Yesterday? Well, yesterday I jumped out of a perfectly good airplane at 12,000' AGL, free fell with two instructors to about 5,000' then glided safely down under a student canopy back to the ground at the Bong Airport in Superior, WI.

It was fun.
