New family member
No, don't worry. Still no kids. (Ever.)
But... we did get a puppy today! She's an 8-week (or so) old shar pei, lab, boxer, ??? mix. We're calling her Daisy. :)
We had been looking at Swedish Vallhunds... a small-medium breed. Pricey, not terribly local, not available until sometime in June.
That was, if we didn't see something in the meantime that really caught our eyes. I looked at the local Shelter page on Friday though, and Daisy (previously Velvet) and her brother and 8 sisters made me go "Awwwww." So I sent a link to Ryan. Who also said "Awwwww."
We filled out an adoption application and got it turned in on Saturday when we went to visit the puppies. The one that we'd really looked at online had already been adopted out. Daisy is the runt of the litter - the rest of her siblings were all at least 1.5x her size already. She was so sweet and patient though - vying a little for attention, but not being so obnoxious about it. She seemed shy in comparison to her sibs, but really warmed up once she was out on her own.
Went back to the shelter today when they opened up, and lo, our references had been contacted, and they said we could take her home! So we did.
She's not too keen on the collar or kennel yet, but she'll get there. Hopefully not too many nights broken into pieces while we get her house-trained... seems like a pretty smart little pooch.
