Pressure..
I know most people have good intentions, but I always seem to be offended in some manner. Last summer I had a fit over how someone stated that I had "grown" in reference to the fact that YES I have gained weight since high school. Geez, I hope everyone has to some degree. That would be what I consider normal. Of course I took offense, but that was one seriously ill delivered comment.
Well apparently the ill delivered comment/question of 2007 would be, "Are you married yet? " Yet? Yet...Should I be? Am I defying social etiquette? Is there a race to the altar I was not informed of? I hope you aren't holding your breaths in anticipation because you will likely be dead before I would be even close.
Its not necessarily the content that bugs me, but rather the fact every time old acquaintances ask of me or about me, their comments are always so poorly stated. I don't ask people "have you put on a few pounds?", "why don't you have children yet?", or "has your ill-fated business finally failed?". It's just not polite.
